Type D-1ジャケット（Type D-1 Jacket)

D-1ジャケットは、第2次大戦中のアメリカ陸軍航空隊の飛行機整備要員用につくられたもので、フライトジャケットではありません。　フライトジャケットのように飛行機の狭いコクピットでの着用を想定しておらず、整備作業用としてゆとりのあるつくりをしています。
長らく放置してしまっていたので、今回オイルを入れました。
このジャケットは、16年ほど前に当時のThe Few（ニュージーランド）で購入したものです。サイズの都合で、映画撮影用に製作した数着のうちの1着を融通してもらいました。　The Fewは旧リアルマッコイズニュージーランドなので、品質は折り紙付きです。　ラベルもReal McCoy’sラベルとなっています。
但し、ゆとりのある作りゆえ、実際に着用すると裾から冷気が入ってきます。　このため、着用回数は大変少ないです。　バイクウエアにするにしてもこれは寒いですね。。　B-6ジャケット（タイトにつくられたシープスキン製フライトジャケット）の方が良かったかもしれません。

The D-1 jacket was made for aircraft maintenance personnel of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and is not a flight jacket.　It is not designed to be worn in the narrow cockpit of an airplane like a flight jacket, but is made to be roomy for maintenance work.
I have not maintained the jacket for a long time, so I added oil to it this time.
I bought this jacket from The Few (New Zealand) about 16 years ago. Due to size constraints, I was able to get a loan of one of the several jackets made for a movie.　The Few is the former Real McCoy’s New Zealand, so the quality is well known.　The label is also Real McCoy’s label.
However, due to the roomy construction, cold air comes in through the hem when actually worn.　For this reason, it should be worn very few times.　It’s cold enough to be used as motorcycle wear.　B-6 jacket (a tightly made sheepskin flight jacket) might have been a better choice as sheepskin jacket.
