The Few M-422Aジャケット（The Few M-422A Jacket)

M-422は、1930年代に開発されたM-422の改良型であり、第二次世界大戦を代表するアメリカ海軍のフライトジャケットです。　1950年代にG-1の型式名となり、現在でも現役で使用されています。
このM-422Aは、2014年頃にThe Few (旧リアルマッコイズ・ニュージーランド）から購入しました。　サイズ46ながら、映画のコスチューム用に製作したものが残っていたとのことで、それを購入することができました。　当時の社長だった石塚さんは、購入品にニュージーランド工場から見える山の写真を同封してくださったりとなかなか面白い方でした。　
2015年、The Fewは生産コストの上昇により工場を閉鎖してしまいました。　その後、フィリピンで生産を行なおうとしましたが、品質が伴わずこれも頓挫し、2018年に日本国内生産として復活したようです。　購入機会はなかなかないのですが、The Fewがこの世に存在するという安心感はあります。

The M-422 jacket is an improved version of the M-422 developed in the 1930s, and is a flight jacket of the United States Navy that represents World War II. Model name was changed to G-1 in the 1950s, and is still in active use today.
I could buy this M-422A from The Few (formerly Real McCoy’s New Zealand) around 2014. Although it was size 46, but a jacket of this size was available as there was a surplus of this jacket made for the movie costume.
Mr. Ishizuka, who was the president of The Few at that time, was quite interesting because he included a picture of the mountain seen from the New Zealand factory with the jacket that I bought.
In 2015, The Few closed its factory due to rising production costs. After that, The Few tried to produce their leather products in the Philippines, but quality did not catch up with The Few’s requirement. Therefore, The Few restarted their production in Japan in 2018.
Although I have almost no chance to buy their products now, existence of The Few makes me feel good.
